Since the Simpsons have had the good taste to FINALLY get Al
on...gee, I dunno. Friends. ;)
How did you first
hear about Al?: My pal Anna.
What's the story behind that?:
She was home for Christmas, and she had brought a CD home with
her that all the kids/counselors/people at the summer camp she
works at just LOVED...Running With Scissors! Well, she had me
listen to the Truck Drivin' Song, and then I was hooked. I borrowed
the CD, eventually gave it back, got my own copy, got copies
of lots of other Al stuff...and here I am!
Have you been to
an Al concert?: Yes indeedy!
If so, how many?: Eight!
Concert Experience Story:
Picture it. It's the last concert of Al's unprecedented week-long
engagement at the Orange County Fair in California in the summer
of 2002. I've flown all the way from Iowa to see this week of
concerts. By incredible luck, I've managed to get myself seats
that are front row center. Al is singing Melanie. Partway through
the song, he glances at me and notices that I'm singing along
and dancing in my seat. I must strike him as just the kind of
rabid fan he's looking for, because in the next verse, he gets
down on his knees, looks me in the eyes, and sings to me. Complete
brain overload. :D And then, later that same concert, Al threw
the Smells Like Nirvana cup at me. (I have it enshrined under
plastic in my room at home.)
Have you ever met
Al?: Yes!
If so, do you have a story?:
I could tell you about how embarrassed I get thinking about
what an idiot I make of myself every time I meet him...;) but
I'll leave it with this. I got Al to sign my plastic banana
at AlCon. I got a very nice Al hug there as well. :) And at
the fair, Al signed my ticket for July 25th. (Row A, section
2, seat 27.)
Have you ever met any of the band?:
Yes!
If so, who?: Bermuda
and Steve (and Miles!)
Do you have a story?:
I met Bermuda at AlCon. He very kindly signed my banana, and
I thanked him for linking my website to weirdal.com. He also
let me sit on his lap and have my picture taken. :) Steve was
the perfect gentleman. After I told him how much I liked his
solo albums, he kissed my hand! And I gave him a thank you hug,
and got a pic. And Miles...I have no picture :(( but he gives
excellent hugs. Oh, and I'm the VP of his fan club now.
Have you ever tried
a Twinkie Weiner Sandwich?: Yeah!
If so, what did you think?:
Yummy, although a bit crumbly.
Do you collect Al
items?: Kind of...I don't live
on EBay, but if something goes on sale around here, I go for
it.
If so, what's your favorite/most
valuable item?: I got UHF on VHS from a video store
that was going out of business.
Anything else
we should know about you?: Yep. But I don't think
I'll tell you...because if I did, I'd have to kill you. Oh,
