Weird Al Site:
No sites about Al, but I used to have one called Rare And Unreleased
Al where people could download sound files of unreleased songs.
I took it down because I didn't have time to keep it updated.
But I do have the Sudden Death web site (www.suddendeath.org)
and the FIDIM Interactive web site (www.fidim.com).
Weird Al Club: No Weird Al clubs,
but I've been a member of the Demento Society since 1988 or
so, and I'm planning to join the New York Macromedia User Group
(or whatever the official title is.)
Weird Al Webring: None
Name:
Tom Rockwell
E-mail: spice@suddendeath.org
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Favorite Al-bum:
UHF
Favorite Song: Smells Like Nirvana
Favorite Polka: Polka Your Eyes
Out
Favorite Band Member: Bermuda
Who do you think
Al should parody next?:
Backstreet Boys, or N'Sync, and possibly Shaggy.
How did you first
hear about Al?: I saw
the video for "Ricky" on a now defunct UHF station in Connecticut
in 1983.
What's the story behind that?:
My cousins had heard the song somewhere and thought I would
enjoy it. They were on the back porch watching this UHF video
music station. (That's the only place reception was good enough
to watch the station.) The video came on and they called me
out on the back porch to see it. I thought it was hysterical
and became a Weird Al fan on that day. Although for some reason
I didn't buy any of his albums until Polka Party came out.
Have you been to
an Al concert?: Yes
If so, how many?: At least 7,
but I lost count.
Concert Experience Story: About
a year ago I got back-stage passes to see Al during his Hershey
Park concerts. He was great as always, but what really made
my day was when he said he was thinking about me and Luke Ski
when he wrote "It's All About The Pentiums." Apparently he was
worried that not too many people would get the parody, but he
knew me and Luke would at least.
Have you ever met
Al?: Yes, a couple times.
If so, do you have a story?:
Twice after two separate concerts in North Tonawanda, NY (Buffalo),
once at Al-Con, and the Hershey Park story above.
Anything else
we should know about you?: While I was learning how
to program with Director I made a video game called "Weird Al's
Great Adventure." You can download it for free from www.fidim.com
Have you made a Parody?:
Several
Name of Parody: My most well
known is "South Park Junkie".
Original singer/song title:
Boogie Down Productions / "South Bronx"
New Lyrics: Sorry. Don't have
time to write them out. I'm late for work. :)
