Secrets
ReveALed! |
 |
|
 |
Nowadays,
it seems that everything has a "secret this" or a "hidden that".
Whether it's your favorite video game or your brand new DVD,
there's bound to be some kind of "hidden feature" included.
But, what about Al's stuff? In case you didn't know, some of
Al's CDs, DVDs and even vinyls have hidden things. Below, you
can find out how to access these ConceALed things!

Running With Scissors
Off The Deep End

Miscellaneous
| From
the disc’s Main Menu, highlight the 'Audio Setup' menu
entry. Then press the 'Down' arrow key on your remote
control to highlight one of the knobs on the TV set. Press
'enter' now and you will be treated to an introduction
of the movie by Al himself, recorded during the movie’s
actual production. |
|
Deleted Stanley Spadowsky Scene
|
| At
the main menu, select the 'Audio Setup' entry, which takes
you to a separate menu. Here, highlight the 'Francais'
menu entry and then press the 'Left' arrow key on your
remote control. This will highlight a fish from Kuni’s
Wheel of Fish, which gives you access to a deleted scene
featuring Michael Richards as Stanly Spadowsky.
|
| Select
the 'Special Features' from the disc’s Main Menu. In the
menu that appears, highlight 'Commentary by Al Yankovic
and director Jay Levey' and then press the 'Left' arrow
key on your remote control to highlight the warning sign
saying 'Watch for falling rocks!' Now press the 'Enter'
key and you will see a scene from the movie’s 'UHF' promo
in which Michael Richards says 'Be there!'
|
|
Deleted Pamela Finklestein Scene
|
| This
hidden feature is located in the Scene Selections. Go
there and then select the page that gives you access to
scenes 13-16. There, highlight the entry that says '13-16'
underneath the screenshots and then press the 'Down' arrow
key on your remote control to highlight the logo at the
bottom of the TV set. This will allow you to watch a deleted
scene starring Fran Drescher during the 'Save our station!'
telethon. |
|
"It's On The Other Side!"
|
| Go
to the 'Special Features' menu once again and highlight
'Deleted Scene.' Some text will appear telling you that
the scenes are found on the other side of the DVD. If
you press 'Enter' now, Al himself will walk onto the screen
and inform you that you will have to flip over the disc
to see these scenes. Be sure to do it three times. Each
time Al comes out he gets increasingly irritated with
your inability to realize that the feature you’re selecting
is on the other side! |
|
--- "Weird Al" Yankovic
Live DVD ---
|
| While
watching 'The Saga Begins' and 'It's All About The Pentiums'
you can actually select an alternate, third audio track
on the disc that contains an audio commentary by Al Yankovic
himself. There is no visible menu item to select this
commentary track, so you will have to switch to that commentary
audio track using your remote control. |
|
---
The Ultimate Video Collection DVD
--- |
| From the "Main Menu"
of the DVD, select "Extras". Once in the "Extras"
menu, highlight "The Weird Al Show". Now simply
press UP on your remote and be treated to archival footage
of My Bologna shot in San Luis Obispo, California in December
of 1979. |
| If
you didn't know, Poodle Hat not only is a great music
CD, but it's also an enhanced CD. By this I mean you can
put it into your computer and get some extra features.
To do this, simply insert your Poodle Hat CD into your
PC and it should automatically run. Features you'll get
are Home Movies, a Photo Gallery, Bonus Mixes of some
of the songs on Poodle Hat and Lyrics to all the songs
on Poodle Hat! |
| After
getting to the special features on the Poodle Hat enhanced
CD (above), simply push the SPACE bar to be treated to
a hidden picture of Al and a pregnant Suzanne.
|
| Did
you think "Bob" was just a crazy song with weird
lyrics? Well it is, but each and every line in the song
is also a "palindrome". The dictionary defines
a palindrome as "a word, phrase, verse, or sentence
that reads the same backward or forward." That's
right, each line in "Bob" is read the same forward
and backward. |
|
--- Running With
Scissors ---
|
| First,
put your Running With Scissors CD in the CD-ROM
drive in your computer. Next, go to "My Computer". Now
right-click on the CD-ROM drive and select 'Explore'.
There should be a folder inside containing a file named
"Hidden File". Open it up and there will be a video containing
clips from Al's Disney special entitled There's No
Going Home. |
(Note:
I haven't tried this out yet. If anyone else has, please
let me know. Also, to do this, you MUST have a
copy of Running With Scissors, a Sony PlayStation and
a copy of Monster Rancher 2.)
In the game Monster Rancher 2 for the Sony PlayStation,
you can create "special monsters" by using certain CDs.
You can use the Running With Scissors CD to make a monster
with an unknown type and you need to be class E or D.
|
| On
the Off The Deep End CD, play the last track (You Don't
Love Me Anymore). Once it's done, just let it play. After
quite a while (about 10 minutes or so), you'll be "treated"
to a loud burst a guitar feedback, backwards drumming,
and Al screaming at the top of his lungs. It only lasts
for about 7 seconds and it's called "Bite Me".
|
| On
most of Al's vinyl releases, you can find different inscriptions
on the record Al-bums themselves. For example, on the
Even Worse Al-bum, the number "100,000,000" is inscribed
on one side. Also, on the Dare To Be Stupid Al-bum, you
will find an inscription that reads "MORE SONGS ABOUT
TELEVISION AND FOOD". There are more inscriptions on Al's
other vinyl releases, so go check 'em out!
|
|
--- Backward Messages
---
|
| In
the song Nature Trail To Hell on the Al-bum In
3D there is a backwards message. Towards the end of
the song, you'll hear Al say something backwards. What
he really says is "Satan Eats Cheese Whiz".
|
| Did
you ever wonder what Al is saying at the end of the song
I Remember Larry on Bad Hair Day? Well, it's backwards
and he's saying "Wow, you must have an awful lot of free
time on your hands!". |
| There
is an interesting set of lyrics in "Slime Creatures From
Outer Space" from the Dare To Be Stupid Al-bum.
After Al says, "They're really getting on my nerves" and
the alien vocals go "Slime Creatures" , turn up the volume
to hear Al exclaim, "Who ya gonna call?". Then the vocals
go, "Slime Creatures!". You HAVE to turn up the volume
or you don't hear anything. |
|
Hey, was there something
so ConceALed that I forgot to add it to this page? If
so, please let me know. I'll add it and give you all
the credit!
